Jacob Maendel is an American artist born 1973 in the New York Hudson Valley region, USA and is of German / Austrian descent. He received a BFA in Product Design from Parsons School of Design in New York in 2001 and worked as a Designer for Tiffany & Co. in New York from 2001-2003. In 2000, Jacob designed a concept prototype for a civilian biological / chemical protective mask : Guardian. From 1997-2004, he studied with Artist Kent Floeter. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions internationally including Pittsburgh, PA, New York University, New York and the Ulrich Rückriem Sculpture Hall at Huntington Castle in Ireland. His 2003 stainless steel sculpture 37,22,15 was exhibited in 2007 at the IRISH MUSEUM OF MODERN ART in Dublin and is part of the permanent collection at IMMA. With a background in both Manufacturing and Design, Jacob has a unique understanding of materials and structure which he applies to his interest in the dynamic description of space. He is currently building sculptures and making drawings and is open to exhibitions, sales and commissions.
